I have a hen that's about 7months old. Her comb has always been pale and flopped over. She started to lay eggs and then went to soft shelled eggs then completely stopped. Gave them oyster shell and that didn't help her. We gave her a dewormer and that didn't work. 2 days ago she would just lay in the coops floor. Would act as if her wing was broke. Finally got her up and helped her outside and she would either stand and sleep or lay down and sleep but didn't move much. She did drink very little water. She did move down near the fence line, then laid down. My husband went out to put her into the coop that night. Yester morning she was in the exact spot that my husband put her in. She would no longer stand when we tried to get her up. Her poop was like water. And she was all puffed up. Any idea what this is? Should I be worried about my other hens and rooster?

Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? That is something that I would suspect, but with her egg laying history, she may have also suffered from internal laying or egg yolk peritonitis. Your state vet in the US can perform a necropsy on a refrigerated body to look for a cause of death. Egg peritonitis or internal laying can also be seen by a necropsy at home if you look inside the abdomen. It helps to take pictures so that others can see pics to offer help. Sorry for your loss.

No she wasn't vaccinated. I suspected that or coccoides when looking on google. She didn't look to have any problem with internal laying.
