My girls have scaley leg and I have read through froums and have been told that you have to drip 5 - 7 drops of injectable Ivomec into the chickens beaks. I would like to know of this information is true. I am also treating their legs with tee tree oil once a day. Is this also ok ? Please help.

For scaly leg mites I dip the feet in a permerthin solution (warm solution) once a day for seven days. Stop for seven days and reevaluate your chickens feet. Retreat for seven days if needed. Evaluate your chicken's surroundings and clean up where needed. Treat the area with insecticide, too.

I do not like to apply Vaseline as that creates an environment where bacteria can thrive and cause a severe skin infection. If the chickens feet are already infected you can paint the feet with a betadine solution when dry.

Do not eat the eggs from treated chickens for 30 days.

Good luck! I hope this helps!

I read the link and I think my girl has ingested some of the tee tree oil that was on her feet, because she is not well. What can I do now ?

My girl is ok and I have definatly learned not to put tea tree oil on chickens !
