Help with labrador coloring

That lady is on CRACK. A chocolate Lab is born that color. How can you ask $700 for a dog that you can't even register AKC? It may say that his pups cannot be registered because the origional breeder felt that that particular dog was PET quality only and did not want those genes associated with her bloodline. Run away from this "backyard" breeder. Probably very nice pets, but not worthy of $700! I have a Black Lab with outstanding bloodlines on both sides, we paid dearly for him but we got what we paid for and his parents have been tested for everything. The breeder was a veterinarian. Anyway, folks that sell dogs like this really get me going.

Thanks guys for all your replies. I totally agree with all of you. I was a vet tech for 10 years and I feel confident with my knowledge about coloring. I just can't decide if I should tell her or not. She keeps posting on facebook and everywhere else about these "chocolates" and it drives me NUTS! Also, the mother was only 8 months old, she kept them separate during the start of the heat, then left them together because she said the female was not accepting... I laughed at her and said to get ready for pups. So mom is just a baby herself. She is also lying about the birthday of the litter, because the male's ckc paperwork was not complete at the actual time of their birth.

I don't know why but it just makes me crazy to keep hearing about it and I work at a desk next to hers so it's alllll day long! I don't know how to bring it up with her...

This lady is going to get stuck with these pups I can almost gurantee it.

I waited two years to breed my Beagles and it was a one time breeding. My female is AKC and UKC registered and my male is UKC registered. She had three adorable pups with great coloring and markings. I am selling them for $300 and registered with the UKC. Well we are selling two as we are keeping one and mom, dad, and pup will be fixed. I made sure they had a full breeding exam done with bloodwork, x-rays, etc. My husband keep saying sell them for more, but in reality I wasn't breeding them to make money I really wanted to see what they produce and was very happy with the results. With what I spent on the exam and the puppy vaccinations I will break even and I am fine with that. I am also being picky about who buys them. If you don't know about or understand Beagles and their requirements you will not be purchasing one of my pups.

How frustrating... I hope these pups turn out healthy. I wonder why the studs old breeder didn't just have him neutered rather than holding on to the papers. $700 for puppies that are only CKC registered, and zero health testing is ridiculous. Why are people so stupid sometimes?!

......Moron! You aren't even supposed to breed them until they are 2 years old for AKC. She was way too young to have pups and was not even done growing yet. This is someone who only cares about the money and wanted to rush it to cash in. AAACCCKK!

We only asked 100.00 for our lab puppies that have been tested and are AKC. Outside people we asked 500.00 but if it was a proven good home , we took money off even that. Yellow labs should have a black nose. Chocolate labs are actually a defect but I still think they are so pretty. Since the yellow labs are so popular puppy mills were breeding yellow to yellow. After awhile you get the pink nose. We bred our black huntsmen to a yellow female. Both had one yellow one black parent. We got 2 black and 4 yellow. Reason for litter was for pick of the litter for our oldest son. So most went to be trained hunting , all to great homes. Which for us was what was important. We also want pictures here and there if they are able.
We got a dog we had for years who should have never been bred because of genetic problems , we learned a lot from that so it was so important we get soild pups. Because if you don't think about that before you get a dog you could set up for heart ache down the road. W loved her no matter what but we paid a lot for her and didn't know any better at the time. We even had her shipped from Canada. People just dont think long term. They just think oh cute puppy.

Chocolate isn't a defect in a Labrador, the color comes from Newfoundland dogs that the Labs are bred from, and other hunting breeds that might have been used in creating this dog. Liver aka Chocolate is common in many breeds of hunting dogs and isn't a genetic fault. Mrs. Smith what testing do you do with your puppies?
