I could really use some help. I need to know what I can build inside here for the hens to sleep in and roost on. I am NOT a builder so I need really simple ideas, and believe me I'm open to any ideas. My chicks (20 of them) need to go outside on March 31st. They are golden laced Wynadottes. With my husbands illness he can't help anymore, and he was always the builder. Really need help.

Where are you located? It will help us help you. Different climates need different style coops.

I live in central Alabama. I was thinking maybe an a-frame extension off the back? I've got five feet I can go back? The dimension of the coop already up is in a file.

also the chicks coming out are Golden Laced Wynadottes so I hear pretty cold hardy? I have 20 coming outside on March 31st

Couple of questions... Will you be letting them out of this coop to free range? Is this coop going inside a larger fenced off area?

Being in a warm climate, ventilation is critical. I'm sure you know that. But space is also very important. A 10 ft x 10 ft open-air coop can be adequate for roosting at night and escape from bad weather, but won't be big enough to act as both coop & run for 20 Wyandottes.

Just trying to ask questions and understand your needs or expectations before offering appropriate suggestions. 😊
