Help with my aggressive gander?!

He can't touch her. There's empty space between Simba and Roanie so that he can't touch her. I would not put her in a situation where she could get hurt.

But in your post #7 you said that you left them together? Why not find a home for her so that the abuse can stop before she is killed?

Oh sorry I guess I read your post wrong, how'd he peck her head? I just assumed they were together.

The head pecking was from the first night when I put them together thinking that they would work everything out overnight....oops... That didn't happen. Now they have no access to eachother at night.

Thats good to hear, I'm thinking if he is bonded to the ducks your probably going to have to put something up where he can't see them, you know the old saying out of sight out of mind, worked here thank goodness.

Did you know that geese can climb a fence? Friday I turned my injured goose, Miss Goosey loose. The vet said moving in the water would help rehabilitate her leg. This negated that I catch Mr. Goosey, the aggressive gander, and pen him up. I wanted the female to have a chance to strengthen her leg without her betraying partner attacking her. The younger pair, Popeye and Olive Oil, just ignore her. She is faithfully nesting most of the day next to his cage. Well, today he decided no more caged yard and climbed a 3 ft fence in 2 strides. New plan!!! Now we have a. 6 ft in closer with a wading pool. I plan to give him a few weeks and see if his attitude changes.

I was having great success with the elder pair of geese free ranging and the young pair penned and nesting, but horror struck Sunday. While we were in town, a Rottweiler forced its way in the pen. I found my Popeye died in the lake and Olive missing. Monday I found her across the lake with an injured wing and puncture wound in her leg. She is now penned back up and healing. I have the whole neighborhood looking for the dog. I think it might have been a random visitor letting their dogs swim in the lake. I miss that little gander so much!
