Hi,
I've had my chickens 6 years, they are about 7 yrs old. I live in FL.
My Australorp, Penguin, went into molt, has refeathered, is eating and drinking; however she has started just sitting down under shrubery and not scratching around with my Leghorn. She will move from area to area but then just sits and her tail is drooping. I'm wondering if I'm dealing with "old age"? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Jean

Happy New Year, Jean, and welcome to BYC. It may be a combination of age and stress from the recent molt. Make sure that she is getting a nutritious diet. Protein supplementation may help.
I feed a high quality food plus give meal worms. I also keep Braggs Apple Cider vinegar (tbls) in their water. I just don't want to be missing something.
