help with nest boxs

    Hi just wondering as we are building a new coop if we should make a hole so the girls can go in and lay in the dark or do indervidual boxes.we have individual ones at mo but would like to hear what others have got as they only lay in the one nest box and not the other 3

    these are my next boxes......i have 10 chickens...only 6 are laying...and they use all three boxes....a couple will lay in the same box....but sometimes i have an egg in each box!

    Here is mine. My grandfather built it, and it is VERY large. Large enough for a broody hen to raise all her chicks [​IMG]

    i have four square boxes for my six hens, somedays they all lay in the same one while other days there is a couple in each. They were made from the left over pieces of ply wood from the coop and are open on both sides. One side for them to get in and the other for me to get the eggs out of the egg door.

    here is what i did. we cut into the adjoining shed and created a community nesting box.
