Yes, those are 7 black milk crates that we use as nesting boxes. And our hens do use them to lay their eggs in. We only have 3 hens that are laying right now, and they all lay in the same box everyday. So the other 6 boxes are unused for now.
I am planning to build better nesting boxes, but my DH has been pretty busy lately. He's going to build me the nesting boxes that extend out of the coop part of the way, so I can collect the eggs from outside, without going into the coop. One day we will get them built.
