Help with nighttime noises?

Thank you. Even if I do get him a new mate, I think I'll still try that as I still do want him to be not so anxious around me.

Also your Skeebie is adorable! I'm sorry to hear that she passed away though, even if it was 4 years ago.

Thanks. She was quite hard to lose and took quite a while to get over. :)

And yes, if it never hurts to tame up a house bird. Even my outdoor quail were worked with when babies and even they are pretty tame. It helps them if you need to handle them for health reason, cleaning the cage or just emotional comfort on their part. They shouldn't be so afraid of you or their surroundings.

And I would still advise you contact Grandmabird. She may have connections to other Button owners. Maybe even she has birds she can ship to you.

Thanks for the praise TwoCrows! I am not a true expert but do have some knowledge and a love for these little buttons. I had watched this post and decided to see what responses were given.

It depends on the location of the single bird, by that I mean is it winter or summer there? Just because we are in the US doesn't mean everyone is. So my first question is where are you located.

He will be lonely and really will be happier with a female but if it is winter you can just give him a nice place to sleep and hide and maybe the feather duster or even a small clean stuffed toy, with extra attention from you. But before spring hits he will drive you nuts calling to find a mate so I would check to find a female asap. Let me know where you are as I belong to a group on facebook that a lot of the people have either eggs or birds to sell. Also put a couple postings on craigslist in your area, if it covers your area or even run an ad in the local newspaper. You can check all the pet stores in your area as sometimes they have breeders who have buttons for the bottom of aviaries. Hope this helps...

Hello GrandmaBird.

My location? I live in PA, near Pittsburgh, so it is winter here where I am.

I've already checked the local pet stores and none of them have any. I have done other checking around, and managed to find someone nearby that sometimes sells button quail. I'm talking to her now, and hopefully she'll sell one to me. I'll keep you all updated though.

So, it seems like I won't be able to buy off of the woman I was talking to via email. She had an ad on Craigslist saying that she was selling. However, every time I brought up wanting to buy a female off of her (even after she said she had a few females to sell), she would just ignore my questions and talk about something else.

It seems like my poor little boy may just have to wait until after winter to get a mate. I can't help but notice though that he has calmed down significantly. He's no longer calling out often. I might hear him once, maybe twice, a day. Even then, his calling out usually seems to be in response to something (Firetruck sirens, the chirping of the Carbon Monoxide detector as it's plugged back in, that one car insurance commercial with the baby chickens, etc.). He's also no longer jumping around his cage at night. In fact, at night I can find him settled down in one corner of his cage.
