We are pretty new to hatching and have about thirty eggs on day 21 in an lg incubator. We took the egg turner out on day 18 and laid all of the eggs on their side. The problem is that the first pip is on the downside of the egg (but on the large end). Do we leave it alone or try to turn it up? We have a terrible time maintaining humidity so I am reluctant to open lid. Thanks for any info.

It'll be fine, don't worry. Best of luck with your hatch and try adding a wet sponge or 2 to the incubator to help up the humidity.

Thanks for the replies. We have three out so far but nothing from the one with the bottom pip. But we will try to be patient. We have three large sponges in bowls with warm water and still having problems keeping humidity above 60% with a calibrated hygrometer. The three chicks do not look too dry do I think it's ok?
