One of our runner duck eggs hatched just after lockdown (Day 26). Its the first born of 12 eggs. (Since hatching, one other has also popped out.)
The first ducky (hatched about 10 hours ago now) seems to have a mass attached to its abdomen and its eyes are still covered. It's just laying on its side curled. It's peeping alot and wiggling but doesn't seem to be able to stand. Are any of these signs of fatal birth defects (the mass?) or should we give him some time? He fully detached from egg & yolk.
First time hatching from an incubator, thank you for your wisdom, Duck Scholars!

That’s the yolk sac place the duckling in cup lined with dry paper towels so the yolk absorbs and doesn’t get caught on something and rupture. Feet down in the cup or small bowl. Let’s wait on the yolk to absorb before the eyes are looked at. Hopefully the yolk is already being absorbed.
Detached from the yolk?
