Hello, I'm trying to make a PVC feeder and having a hard time getting the feed to flow through. I tried one that was an L shape with a 90 elbow and that didn't work so tried a 60 degree elbow and didn't work good either. The horizontal piece is about 3' and upright maybe 3 1/2 '. Also tried a U shaped one with 90 degree elbows on each side and 3' horizontal piece and that didn't work right either. Not sure if the horizontal piece is to big or what I'm doing wrong. I'm using 4" pipe. Any suggestions?

you need to put a little pipe inside the big pipe to make it work try that

I have PVC tube feeders for my crumbles and my scratch. I have two feet of PVC pipe connected to a 90 degree elbow and then a 45 degree piece. It's not PERFECT but it gets the job done - especially because my chickens like to scratch around and that facilitates the movement. Twice a day, though (morning and night) I go and manipulate the system with either my fingers or a stick to bring the feed down, but it also works throughout the day with the pecking and scratching. Good luck!

I solved this problem by using a "Y" piece at the bottom, with a plug so any feed in the bottom couldn't get old. I used a 4" pvc pipe, aprox 5 feet tall.
I cut a hole in the coop roof and fill it from the outside and cover it with a cap. My hubby built a overhang off our shed so it's weather protected. The "Y" piece is 4" across with two- 3" feed holes. I also added a pvc lip piece (see picture) to the feed holes so there is no feed on the ground, no waste or mess at all. None!

Then I added a flag! When the feed gets low a disk in the pipe drops and the flag on the outside also drops- Way cool! I always know when the feed is getting low. Clean and easy! :)
