Help with Rescue Chicken - **GRAPHIC PICTS** Update: PG 3

She is a game hen. I bet she is a green legged Hatch. But hatch has been breed into just about every other game breed. Sweater, Roundhead, Kelso... To be safe I would just say she is a BB red American Game. Ohh and Great Job!!!!

That's horrible. I hate things like this where you do everything you can and still it's not enough. Kudos for giving them a forever home.

Thank you! I may have to start a new thread...but what's the difference between a "game hen" and a "regular hen"? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I read that game birds are just those that are wild/not domesticated and often used for fighting? Is that the same thing as a "game hen"? Are they still compatible with regular hens (in the same coop) and they can be used for eggs/meat?

Here are updated photos of ChaCha. Her wounds are completely healed. Some feathers still need to come in, but she's doing really good and happy in her new home. I really think she's a Sweater Game Hen...but let me know if you think!

eggsrcool - Thank you! She's definitely a lot prettier than when I first saw her!

chickenlover54 - Her color is similar to the last pullet on the page you posted, but all those chicken hold their tails straight/downward. ChaCha holds her tail pointed upwards...like this one:
