Chirping
I think we're in a good spot now, especially after reading through similar threads, but wanted some additional thoughts.
Came home this afternoon to find one of our chicks, approx 8-9 weeks old, has a huge wound on the back of her head. Not sure how it happened, but we seperated her immediately in a tote with food and water. Photo attached from when we found her.
I've cleaned it with warm water and saline. I trimmed the feathers to keep it out of the wound and finished off with a lot of Vetericyn spray. We tried wrapping, but it fell down and she didn't like it. We are giving her some time to rest. I will try to get a close up photo in a bit.
We are going to go out now and get plain neosporin and put it on the wound. Current wound is very raw, but no real bleeding. She is eating and drinking like normal.
Is there anything else we should be doing? Is it OK not to wrap it up after we apply the neosporin?
I have blue kote, but was going to hold off until it's further along healing.
Any additional guidance is helpful! Not the Monday evening I was expecting
