Help with scat identification

Hi,

Can anyone help with identifying this scat? We've started seeing it around the outside of our coop and run - and now around our garden. Each "fresh" pile is about 2 to 3 inches across. The individual pieces in the pile are about .25 inches in length. We've seen raccoons around, but this doesn't look like raccoon scat based on google searches.

Do you have black bears? That looks like bear scat. Right size and consistency.

it does look like bear scat to me just not sure which bear, and this time of year they are going to be storing for hibernation so a little more brazen. you aren't keeping feed in or near the coop are you.

You can narrow it down to black bear as long as OP isn't in Alaska. Grizzly scat has little bells in it from the griz warning bells from hikers.

Where are you located (state)? I would put up a game camera and see what is lurking.

Are you sure it is feces? It actually looks very much like the areas in my yard where crayfish burrow.

My first thought was worm castings and/or displacements....
....but nothing for scale, nor a location.<shrugs>
