Hi, i have the 1502 sportsman and i use it to hatch eggs 1 time and not in a cycle. So basically i place 300 eggs every 21 days. I need to make hatcher trays for the first 3 racks because it doesnt have any. I was think of using aluminum, but does the bottom of the tray need to be wire or can it be a solid aluminum tray. How should it be designed?

You can make trays out of 1x2s or 1x3s(I have not measured the distance for trays so 1x3 might be too tall). Then attach some 1/4 inch hardware cloth to the tray for the bottom.
I made a hatcher from an old upright freezer and made trays out of 1x4 but I had the room for that 4 inch height. I also attached some hardware cloth on the top of those trays to keep chicks and whatever I might be hatching in the trays.
I am not sure if it would help, but take a look at my hatcher on my website, might give you some ideas. I have some pics there.
