HELP with sheep with a bloody horn

I have a one year old ewe who has small horns, about 3 inches long. Today, when I was putting her back in her pen, I noticed that one of her horns was bright red. Upon further investigation, it looks like the whole outer part of her normal brown horn has been stripped off of some sort of 1½ inch really white looking horn thing and it of course has a vein going through it and it is pumping out blood. My normally tame and kissable lamb is now very freaked out after I got in with her and tried to first clean off the bloody mess and then apply some powder to make the bleeding stop. I think the bleeding is slowed down to a very thick ooze, but now I need to go back in and apply some fly ointment. I've got calls into a vet and a goat friend, but I haven't heard back from them and I want to make sure she's in no immediate danger; I know to watch for infection and flies. Should I give her anything?

Keep it clean, and it will dry up in a day or two.

She may or may not grow the horn back, but it's a pretty common thing with horned animals, and nothing to worry about

Thanks Bear Foot! I've freaked her out enough for one day, so I'm going to give her a rest and try cleaning it some more tomorrow after it's coagulated a little more too. I finally caught her to put the fly ointment around the area. I can't believe how wild she got; she's normally so calm around everybody and lets me touch her anywhere and hold and kiss her.

I've had a few who knocked their horns off, but none of them had any problems, and a couple grew new ones.

It LOOKS bad with all the blood, but it's not a big deal as long as there is no secondary infection

Yeah, I'm used to it with some of my goats who never got their horns removed, but I guess I freaked out when it was my sweet little lamb. When the goats' came off, they came off completely, not just the outer sheath. I'm going to have to really watch out for flies with her. My other lamb, Lewis, is a Dorper/Barbados cross and he's about 6 months old and very sweet and filling out nicely; sometimes, he just stands and looks like some sort of show dog. I like it when their wool sheds completely and they look real smooth for a while, but then I like when it all grows back too.
