Help with shrink wrapped chick....

16 eggs total 2 that have pipped besides this one
Temp 100 per brinsea 99.5 per my hydrometer and humidity is 68%

Sorry for all the questions.
First, I need to know how many others I will jeopardize by opening up the bator.
Is it one of those styrofoam boxes?
Different eggs have their own quirks.

Oops I was typing when you were.
Silkies aren't the strongest ones out there.
If they all went in at the same time, I would wait a while longer.
I see you're in Az. Have you used this bator before in the desert?
If you HAVE TO, you could take a tweezer that you use for ingrown hairs, the real pointy ones, and just chip a little away from the pip hole.
If you see any blood at all, it is TOO SOON.
If you see no blood, make the hole a little bigger,and maybe try to get the zip going for him.
Instead of digging into the egg, I sometimes just take the back of the tweezer, and just hit the egg gently around where the zip should be, just cracking it enough to give him a little help.
Any blood at all, STOP. It is too early, and he will bleed to death.
It sometimes helps to take a wet paper towel, and wrap it around the egg.
But be careful not to cover up the pip hole, he could suffocate if water gets into the hole.

Also, those Brinseas are supposed to be outstanding.
Very little trouble. I feel you are not being patient enough.
Notice how very little people have not answered your post?
It is hard to jump in early, so many things can go wrong.
It is very difficult to just let nature do its job.
Wait a little while longer, then try it if you must.

Ok well I enlarged the hole slightly. The Membrane is very tough, I got the tiniest amount of pink blood so I wrapped the bottom with a paper towel and stuck it back in. I misted the other eggs with a sprayer to help bump the humidity back up a bit.

I agree I might not be patient enough. I am a worry wart.

I am glad you stopped when you did. I have killed more than a few chicks because of impatience.

He' still in there peeping away. I have a 3 other eggs pipped now. Its been officially 24 hours now......... I hate this waiting, why are they taking so long from pip to zip? I thought 24 hours was the max?

I would wait. I don't have too much experience, but when I hatched eggs I had one EE pip but then I didn't even hear any peeping. When a few other chicks hatched and he was still just pipped I assumed he hadn't made it. Well, that was 10 weeks ago and Beans is doing great now

It can take up to 2 days, I usually hear them peep the first day, and pip the second day, and hatch usually within that day.
