My rooster was in the coop Saturday with his head down and not lifting his head, and shaking it. His crop was empty and I put nutridrench on his beak and in the water. By Sunday I was worried he was bad off. He was still crowing. Monday he seemed better and Wednesday he was eating and drinking and sprightly. I put him back with his girls. And today (Thursday), he was back with his head down, shaking it and not raising it. His poop was green Tuesday, but seemed fine. The vet said to give them sulfadimethoxine. I cannot find that anywhere except huge cow pills. Any other alternatives? I have corid at home. Please help, I don't want to lose Charles. He's still crowing.

You can get it as Bird Sulfa online, I get mine at Allivet.com. I grind the correct dose with a mortar & pestle and mix with soft coconut oil and refrigerate to firm it, and give as a custom pill. Did the vet tell you a dose amount?

No they did not. I talked to the vet assistant who has chickens and she told me of the drug. Now, how long will it take to get here and I don't need a whole bunch of it.

This is all I get at that site

In their search bar put in "bird sulfa (smz)" , it should come up. 30 ct. bottle is 12.99, 100 ct. bottle is 29.49. You can also do a google search for other sources. I'm traveling and on my iPad so don't have my normal resources and links with me. :( Shipping times and costs may vary depending on where you buy it. Depending on the size of the huge cow pills you may be able to grind them the same way to get an appropriate dose. I don't have my dosing with me either but you should be able to find it by searching this forum.
