Al ot of this depends on what you call a doll. Manufacturers get a lot of mileage out of "action figures" which are just dolls.

I have 2 boys ages 2 & 5 and just recently had a daughter 9m I wouldn't buy my boys a girly doll but I'm sure when she gets dolls they will want to play with them too and thats ok with me
