Help with some genetics before hatching- white feathers, egg color

I'm finding all kinds of things like that on this site too. Like breeding a buff polish (which has white lacing) and a gold polish (which has black lacing) together, and then taking one of the buff polish female offspring (with white lacing) and breeding her back to daddy. All sorts of "hidden" colors come out with that pairing!

Here is an update on the chicks. About 4-5 weeks old now.

So here was what I ended up getting. All females were under a white Marans roo.

Buff Orpington- I hatched out 3 of her eggs- They all are buff with some strange pattern on the wings, something you would see on an EE. I expect the 2 girls from these three to layer a darker brown egg than the mom.

Easter Egger- Mom is black with some gold neck lacing. I hatched out 4 of her eggs- I got 2 solid whites (like the father), and 2 barred.

Easter Egger- Mom is brown and partridged. I hatched out 2 of her eggs. They are both came out barred but one more brown than the other.

Lastly and the one I find most interesting is our F1 Olive Egger ( Her Mom was a splash Ameraucana and father was a black orpington.) I hatched out 5 of her eggs. Mom is blue and she had 2 blue, 2 lavender and one barred. Which I am super excited about as I have not seen many Lavender Olive Eggers out there!

So I got barred from 4 different breeds with that white Marans roo. Looks like in order to make the white Roos the breeders had used barred in there somewhere. Genetics are an interesting thing!

You can see in the pic above all the variations in the barring.

The Lav is on the left..

funny I had a barrred maran roo and a barred maran hen "coco's" and they had a splash maran chick but the rest were all barred. I stopped using him because I didn't want all barred chickens.

That is really interesting. So somewhere there was a blue gene correct? Doesn't there have to be one copy of the blue to make a splash?

Someone shared this link with me early this year. I have since been addicted to it, plugging in every possible combination of my chickens, experimenting with their offspring, crossing all sorts of colors and combinations....

Too much more, and I'll probably be spitting out the answers without using the calculator! Lmao!

Same here. Although I have a hard time figuring out what to call the EEs in the calculator. Right now I am trying to figure out what my next roo should be for the next project. I think I want to stick with Olive Eggers that have a Marans and Orpington style body and maybe focus on blues and splashes? I don't know but it is fun thinking of the possibilities.
