Help with wet chickens

Long story...they normally do have access to shelter.
I've dried them with towels and placed them in garage with heat lamp on - do u think that will help?

That sounds like a good idea if they got trapped without their regular access to shelter and got soaked.

I know I can trust my adults to go in and out at will and am hoping they taught the 8-week-olds to do the same today in repeated downpours, but if something happened so that they got stuck out in the rain without the normal shelter I'd probably take precaution.

I know that silkies' special feathers leave them more vulnerable to weather.

Make sure they can get away from the heat if they need to.

High 70s currently and low 70s over night...just checked where o have them at with lamp and it's 86

Are they full grown birds or chicks less than 6-8 weeks old?
I don't know from silkies, but 70° is pretty warm.

They are 5 weeks
They have calmed down and are huddled together underneath the heat lamp now.

My instinct says that if they *can* get away from the heat and choose to be under it they're probably cold.

They could go to the other end but are directly under it...I'll keep an eye on em to late n see though.
Definitely gonna just keep them in garage tonight.

Chickens in general are well prepared for most weather. At least everything the extreme cold or heat....but they can take cold much better.

As for wetness... I've noted some of mine completely and utterly soaked.... half an hour later after the rain stopped.... barely they got wet in the first place.

They have built-on feather dryers...

I am sure they didn't mind the special attention, but they do pretty well without us it seems.
