Hi everyone. This is my first time posting but have been reading here for a few months now. I’ve tried to find a solution for my current problem but am still not sure what’s going on. This is my first time owning chickens.

The problem lies with one of my brahmas. She is roughly 4 months old. She recently started doing the squat they do when they’re ready to mate and has been in her nesting box but not laying like her “sisters”.

Two days ago, I noticed that she had a pretty nasty bum. I gave her a warm bath and cleaned her up immediately. Next day she had a nasty bum again so I looked more closely and it appeared she was straining to push. That was when I noticed an egg she had been trying to push out and poop was trying to come out around the egg.

So, I gave her another Warm bath and tried to relax her so she could push. I gently messaged her belly and she pushed out two eggs. However, neither egg had a shell. Given that these are her first eggs, I’m alarmed. :(

She seemed okay after her bath and I saw her take a big poop which was a relief.

Today I am watching her closely again. She is straining again and I felt her belly area to see if I could feel any more eggs and it wasn’t hard like it was yesterday before she expelled those two eggs. Her butt is pasty again too. I plan to give her another bath and clean her up.

given let these are her very first eggs and this is her very first experience with laying, I feel like something is seriously wrong here. I’m not sure what to do.

For food she eats Purina layena omega-3. I will attach a photo of the food. The only table scraps that she gets are from my salads. Lettuce, tomato, arugula, and some cucumber. She does not get any other scraps. She also gets Chia seeds mixed w water once in a while and flax meal and some oats. However for the past 3 days I have held back on giving any “treats”.

I attached photos of her bum for reference but wasn’t able to get a pic of it while she’s straining.
If anyone has any idea what’s going on, I would love some advice. I love my girls very much and want them to be healthy and happy.

Thank you for reading and your help.

I forgot to mention that I was able to get her to swallow some tums by crushing it up, dissolving it in water and using a syringe to administer. I couldn’t get her to eat it, didn’t seem to like the flavor.
