My first runner duck Drake just reached puberty a couple weeks ago. Noticed today his "junk" was stuck outside the vent, swollen and poo-covered. Anyone have advice?

or he's done with his mating season. Is it true that drakes are only capable of breeding for a short time each year and then lose the ability until next spring?@generaldsherman
is he okay? It does sound like a phallus prolapse - that can be serious, but it is treatable.

thanks a million! Thought the falling off thing sounded weirdA prolapsed phallus can become infected and then the infection can become systemic.
He needs to be separated in a clean shelter with fresh food and water. Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks has a section on treating this. Do you have access to that book?
Here is a thread in which I quoted from the book.
