Help with young Drake runner duck

My first runner duck Drake just reached puberty a couple weeks ago. Noticed today his "junk" was stuck outside the vent, swollen and poo-covered. Anyone have advice?

I am not positive but it sounds like a prolapse. @Amiga will know if online. How many ducks do you have? Are you sure it's a male?

or he's done with his mating season. Is it true that drakes are only capable of breeding for a short time each year and then lose the ability until next spring?

No, that's not true.

He needs to be separated in a clean shelter with fresh food and water. Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks has a section on treating this. Do you have access to that book?
