Help. Worms?!

DE can kill some external parasites by dehydration... If enough is directly applied. Not so for internal parasites. If they ate enough to kill those it would most likely kill the chicken.

I tried DE for lice and it didn't work for me.

I use levamisole ( hydrochloride ) and rotate with panacur ( fenbendazole. DE can cause all kinds of respiratory issues for both you and your birds. Not worth the risk , being as there are so many products on the market that can be added to their water . Just my 2 cents worth .

This is going to sound really bad of me but what is DE exactly? I've never heard of it until some people say they use it and then others say it's not effective. I'm curious.

diatomaceous earth - you can buy it at Tractor Supply or online. It kills bugs - you can use it to dust chickens, put it on the floor of the chicken house, put it in their dust baths to keep bugs down, etc... I've heard a lot of folks use DE to deworm cats, dogs, goats, etc.... Its fine to mix in with chicken food (just get food grade) but it sounds like folks haven't had a great success with using it do deworm. Don't waste your money. I tried it... put it everywhere, coop, dust bathing spots and on birds. It killed nothing.

Same here. Gave it a try a few years ago when it was all the rage. Chickens still got worms, didn't solve a mite problem that popped up either. It certainly has it's uses, I'm sure, but deworming is not one of them in my opinion.
