as a trained EMT, i say you should treat for shock first. that's what you're supposed to do with people, and at least to me Chickens are people too. do exactly what Ruth said, i hope she pulls through. i am sending god vibes your way.
Hello all! I wanted to update you all on the hen. She is still alive, and doing well. I still have her separated from the rest of the flock because the minute I let her out the roos are all over her.
She does have a limp, but that may go away with time.
I will be making saddles for the hens soon, I was only going to do it for the ones with obvious feather loss, but as Ruth pointed out it will help keep them all safe.
Good deal on your girl. Any infection going on? Sounds like you are doing a good job. The way I see it is even if the limp doesn't go away, you still have your girl.
I just wanted to post an update that the hen is doing good, and is even back to laying. Not sure when she started laying again, but I saw her do it this weekend. She is still not completely healed, but less than a week after her injury, she was out running with the flock, she was so miserable by herself.
