A couple days ago my hen’s foot began to inflame and swell but now up her leg there is a zigzag cut oozing and Im not sure what to do. We thought it could be bumblefoot but are not too sure anymore her scales are now falling off and leaving red rashes at dots where they were (the blue is blue cote) Im a first time chicken owner so im not sure if maybe its just a very strange bumble?

Can you look at her foot pad on the bottom for any small cut or scab? Is she or another chicken pecking at her legs? Does she have a place to dust bathe? I would be tempted to apply some thick ointment or oil to her legs and rub it in, in case her legs are itchy or she is getting leg mites. It could be something else causing pain or irritation. How old is she, and do her feet look lumpy when she stands? Gout can cause swollen lumpy toes and feet.

She has on small scab but it has stayed the same size ands hasn't inflamed. There is not really a pecking order with my chickens since they free range a lot so there are pecks but not often. She is 8 months old and we have not seen anything like this before we have been soaking her leg though and applying antibiotic sprays and ointments as well. :)

There is a small scab on the bottom of her foot but the main concern is the cut.
