When do I switch my chicks from chick starter to regular food?

We started slowly giving them regular feed once they were nearly done with the bag of chick starter and just kind of weaned them onto it. They should only need the one bag and then you can switch them over to regular.

It depends on the type of feed. To be honest, my chicks free range with mum from day 2 normally, and whilst they have chick mash in their mini-coop, they also go for the regular feed. As long as the chicks have been out and about, and so got some grit in their crop, then regular feed will be no problem - theres not too much difference in terms of composition - usually just the size of the grains of mash.

I have no experience with using pellet feed, but I'd just let them get on with it.
