I have/had a welsummer that went broody for the first time yesterday.. I kicked her off the nest a couple of times.. then today I put her into an isolation cage with food and water suspended on a fence for airflow... 5 hours later..she was dead...thoughts?

Sorry for your loss - is there any possibility that she might have gotten overheated?

From the sound of it, she was probably egg bound. Sometimes when they're laying or trying to lay, they act a bit broody. I don't know, though. It could have been some completely unrelated illness, too...sorry about your hen! :hugs
