Ive been trying to figure out whos been laying all of the eggs we have been getting, 5 in 6 days. How can I figure out whos laying out of my 3 23 week olds?

Depending on what breeds you have egg colour if you have a mixed flock...?
Who is in the nest boxes the most. I have a Bantam who lays everyday...My others have just started..I get a green egg, two white ones and a tan....I know my two Danish are laying, my Bantam and my Speckled Sussex so far....8 more hens to go...

Cheers!

One way to tell if a pullet is laying or is about to, is the redness of the comb. Another way to tell is to locate the bony protrusions on either side of the vent. If you can fit two fingers in between the "nobs", that pullet should be ready to lay.

Another way to determine which egg was laid by which hen is to deposit a bit of food dye just inside the vent, a different color for each layer, and when the egg is laid, being wet, it picks up some of the dye on the shell.

Or you can hang around and peek into the nest boxes, seeing who's in there.

I found out!! My B.A was sitting in the nesting boxes and when she left I went to check and there was a warm egg!!
