Help!

I have a two week old duckling everything seemed pretty normal until today I noticed he had a rash or atleast I think its a rash on the side of his neck on top his neck under his Beck could he have lice /mites or is his feather just growing in please help!!

What is the temperature in the brooder? Is the heat source close enough that he or she could get burned?

What is the bedding? Other ducklings? Anything that could be scratching the ducking - can the duckling squeeze between bars of a cage, for example? Have you used any soap or other product on the duckling?

I would let the little one splash around in some water the same temperature as the brooder, to rinse off well. Return the little to a clean brooder, and dry with a washcloth if needed. Do you use fabric softener?

It may be that it's just feather loss and new feathers coming in, but sometimes odd things happen.

It sounds to me like feathers growing in...They do get looking pretty ratty before they get rid of the down and get feathers...

I think you and the Ducklings will be fine...
