Hi @Iman kiani :frow Welcome To BYC

Where are you located?

I'm not seeing any photos - if you can post them that may be helpful.

Can you describe the symptoms that your chickens have - is it respiratory? (coughing, sneezing, mucous from the nose, runny eyes, facial swelling, bad odor, etc.?)

Without more information, it would be hard to help you.

This is how it is and yes they have runny eyes and laster it gets covered entirely in this thing on its face

I'm so sorry for your little one.

I honestly have never seen that before. Do you have a vet or department of agriculture that can do some testing for you. I would say, that whatever it is from your description, it is contagious and possibly is passed along by the parent stock as well.

Let's see if anyone else has any ideas.

Well there are no specialized vets around here just a local shop from where everyone gets the med..... i have separated the ill ones from others

Separating the sick ones is a good step to take.

I've tried to do a little research and have found nothing so far:(

This is my opinion, others may have better ideas and thoughts. Looking at your photo, to be honest, even with vet care and antibiotics, I don't think this would be recoverable. I suspect that whatever it is, is contagious as well. A bird that recovers would be a carrier of the disease and pass it to others. I would not breed (hatch eggs from any of these birds).

I don't normally recommend culling, but it may be best to cull any that have symptoms to try to get this under control. Any birds that have been housed with them would be exposed and carriers, but if they don't develop symptoms, they would be the ones to think about keeping. The concern would be if this can be passed along through the egg when hatching chicks.

It's very difficult to know and I'm so very sorry, I wish I had better answers and information for you.

Well thankfully older hens which lay eggs or hen's the eggs that have been hatched are healthy and I am keeping them separate

I would wonder if that is canker, also called trichmoniasis, a protozoan infection and very contageous to all members of the flock. It can cause yellow-grayish lesions in the oral cavity, the thr throat and trachea, and these may spread all around the beak. Sometimes the airway becomes completely blocked. Here are some links and some reading about canker, although I am only guessing what the problem is:

Oral Canker

Canker is a condition mostly associated with pigeons and is caused by a tiny parasite called trichomonas. This parasite is often spread through contaminated drinking water. The parasite causes a ‘yellow button’ of pus to form in your bird’s mouth. This can stop your bird from eating normally leading to weight loss.

What to look for
  • Weight loss
  • Birds picking up food then dropping it
  • A cheese-like plaque in your birds mouth (see photo)
  • A reluctance to eat
Treatment
Treating canker or suspected canker is a job for a vet who will likely prescribe an anti-parasitic medication.

Prevention
Ensure that your birds' drinking water is changed daily. Try to keep the drinkers in the chicken house to discourage wild birds from sharing your birds’ water.
