You mean the crest? The one you are questioning is a very poorly bred bird. Incorrect comb, partial crest (single copy of the gene, not two), no muffs or beard. Terrible example of the breed. Still a cockerel, though.

I received them from a girl that was having them as pets in an apartment I couldn't say no,but feel I was lied to about age n what they were

I am a newbie to silkies just wanted to give them a good home but sexting them is driving me nuts!

Agree with Junebuggena . I like to see photos - head forward with crest held or tied back to display full comb. But the first one is wrong in so many areas - I would not use him even for breeding pet silkies.

Looks like a pullet to me. Much better quality than the previously posted cockerel.
