Okay so I recently acquired a hen)buff Orpington) from another farm about a week ago,she hasn't laid since getting here, and pretty much kept to herself, didnt really go outside and stayed in the coop..I made a little nesting spot for her(our nesting boxes aren't ready yet as all our other birds are pullets) in hopes it would help ease her,and she wanted nothing to do with it,then I started to realize at night when I would go into the coop to check in her and my(what I thought and was told was 9week old cockerel)were sleeping together, then my hen started to come outside, and her and the cockerel have been side by side, and tonite I found her in the nest box,and she wont move for anything! could she be laying?or getting ready to start laying again?
and this cockerel there is NO way hes only 9 weeks(11 if you add the 2 weeks hes been here) I have 3 other 9 week old cockerels and hes 4x the size they are, according to pictures and searching online hes more likely 15-16 weeks....is he ready to mate?
Heres my big cockerel( the one I'm speaking of above) any idea how old he is?

Everything is going great,my flock is healthy, happy, and growing well,my only issue seems to be with figuring out exactly how old my big cockerel is,and how to get this hen laying ! Farmer originally said she had hatched eggs(hence the babies I took along with her)but then after speaking to him again he said the babies were hatched by Cornish hen...so I'm stuck trying to figure out if this hen has even laid eggs yet!!!I feel bad asking the farmer because clearly he has some memory issues, and I don't want to bother him anymore, but I cant do my job if I don't know whats what!!ugh feeling frustrated
