is there a way to make a male button quail breed his mate? I found out they were a pair because I saw them breed, and my hens first eggs were fertile, but she keeps on going broody and her eggs are not fertile. she is willing to breed, but he just wont. I think it might be because she is higher in the pecking order. Please HELP!

I very rarely see my buttons mating. Have you candled the eggs to see if there's any development when she sits on them? About day 3 you can see the little 'spider'. Are there other females in with them as they often prefer one female over the other so she may not be his pick of partner. I had a trio together and one female was a serial egg layer (of fertile eggs), but wouldn't sit, and the other was very broody but her eggs were never fertile, so the male was only mating with one.

she is alone with one male, and her eggs did not develop. she has 4 eggs today and is abought to go broody again:( hopefully they are fertile:)

How many hours of daylight do they get each day? That seems to be the switch for coturnix quail mail libedo, lol, whether or not the long daylight hours "tell them" it's breeding season.
