so recently today I’ve noticed 3 of my birds have kind of changed attitudes. My pekin seems to be panting quite harshly so has my turkey , but one of my roosters has seemed to kind of slowed down. The rooster I separated in a different place Incase he was to “pass” with me being gone to work today. I had given him some sugar water and a few treats wth his normal feed. I went to go get some nitro-drench after work today and he seemed to perk up and hold his tail higher then this morning. He didn’t eat at all when I left but by the time I came home he made a small dent in his food. I’m unsure as to what happened and what the problem is. He only just seemed slow and held his tail down lower then normal.

Now with the turkey and duck they seem to be panting very hard but will continue to eat and drink. I’ve tried misting lightly for the whole flock since it was super humid today. But it didn’t seem to do the trick. Their having normal poops with no problem and I haven’t noticed anything else other then their panting harshly. The rest of the flock seem to be fine. The turkey has started to sneeze here and there but she was eating right underneath another hen and he feathers kept getting in her nose

I’m stuck at the moment as to what to do next other then trying to cool them down...

Also side note unsure if this is the problem... but recently with their set up they made quite a mess and attracted quite a few flies. I moved the whole set up within a day of noticing it and by the next the flies had tripled in the spot that they were originally at and that’s when the 3 birds started to act different. The rest of the flock seems fine but just these 3 are in bad shape... I’d like to not loose my babies. Unfortunately vet is not an option at the moment due to personal reasons! Thank you to all who help! :love

so sorry you are having issues.
Where are you located?
What are the daytime high temps?
How many birds in what size spaces?
Others will want this info and more in order to help you figure things out...
best of luck.

I’m in Indiana , and the highest today was 87 . And they range from 3 1/2 m to 2 m. And yes they all range together. Sometimes when allowed the time they get to get out of their run and free range. And the run id say is about 13 f’ by 20 f’ by 6 f’
It’s home made so the measurements are somewhat odd. They were at the side of the house in the beginning, but due to the flies we went ahead and set up shop behind the house which has a deceant coverage along with some tarp and wood to cover a section of the run. We also extend the run by at least 5-7 f’ wth extra pallets laying around. I have 2 regular sized ducks with 3 calls. 3 mini chickens and 4 regular size chickens. 2 turkeys. And 2 guinnie hens. So 15 In total.

Also I want to also note now!! I had thrown some water melon in with them for a heat treat and my duck and turkey seemed to eat some and now don’t pant as harsh if at all!

With my experiences w/ducks - turkeys= wet poopy mess. It's hard on the chickens. They scratch and peck in wet poop left by the other species.
I would treat your chickens/roo with Corid and separate them accordingly. Sounds like a Cocci related scenario with your roo.

I am in Indiana as well. Even though the temp was 87, the real feel is much higher and the humidity has been horrible. Also, do they have enough shade?
Here is how I keep my birds cool - ice cubes, frozen peas and blueberries, frozen corn, watermelon, and fresh water two to three times a day. They don't get all of the treats on the same day. I have different dishes around the run that I put the ice cubes in and frozen treats. I also have multiple containers with fresh water. The ice cubes obviously melt, but keep the water cooler.
I put two dog bowls on each side, as my ducks and chickens are separated, they can stand in these if they want. I habent seen the chickens stand in them, but I have seen them drink from it. The ducks also have their pool of course.
