I have a pekin duck that is not even a year old she got attacked by a lil dog 3 days ago and she is still drinking water and she will eat peas and noodles but thats it and it has to be in the water i have cleaned the area everyday and she seam to be getting better im worried about infection and pain what can i do for her

Well first and foremost...:welcome! I hope that you enjoy this site as much as the rest of us do! I have learned SOOO much from this site, and I hope that you do too! Secondly, I hope that next time you post on here it's not for something to terrible!

So, If I were you I would soak her wound in epsom salts, and clean the wound daily. As long as she's eating and drinking she will be fine. Animals no the not hold back on food... it's in there nature! I would make sure the coop is immaculate too!

Hope this helps! Good luck!:thumbsup

Its on her neck not sure how to soak it in epsom salt she i just pore it over her neck with a cup?? And what about pain

If you could post a picture for us, it would be most helpful. The main thing that comes to mind is flies getting in the wound and then there are maggots.:sick

I don’t think I would do a whole lot for the pain. When things are painful, it’s your bodies way of telling you to slow down. If you remove that, she may overdo it. But again maybe we can give some specific advice if we have a picture.:D

It was very hard to see how bad the wound is. can you get some close ups of the neck wound?

Maybe try making her some soup with her feed and some nice warm water. sometimes when they feel bad or hurt they will drink when they won't eat and her neck is probably very sore. Warm Epsom salt rinses will help heal. also clipping the feathers away from the wound will help you keep it cleaner and help it heal quicker.
