Help!! Okay, so I'm a proud chicken mama of 16 was 17 chickens.... Y'all, yesterday my husband and daughter found one of my oldest sex links dead!! Now I've been watching my roos seem to be getting more aggressive towards my hens lately.. I'm almost positive they may have overbread and killed her.. No apparent signs of disease or distress other than the roos becoming more agressive.. I really am sad and at a loss as what to do.. Any ideas? because I'm seriously about to go end it for both of them...I'm worried they are going to hurt another one of my ladies..

How many roosters do you have?

Can you give more information on the birds you own? (Age, breed, raised together or introduced recently?) How many roosters and how old are they?
What did the body of the hen look like? Were feathers strewn everywhere, was she bloody? Was her back bald?

The hens comb and eyes were pecked out! The youngest roo is a slw. The oldest is a barred rock. They have 5 hens and they have all been raised together.. They are all exactly a year old.. In my other coop I have all silkies. 10 of them we just got 2 weeks ago. They are separated from my original flock because my original chickens would kill them.

How old was this hen? Is it possible she died of old age/illness and the flock cannibalized her?
I've seen a hormonal rooster maul a hen, but never with intent to kill. I have seen my hens abusing and devouring a pullet that died of other causes in a manner you described.
It could be possible the two roosters accidentally killed her if they're both at the hormonal age, and the rest of the flock did the damage after. Hens can be worse than roosters to a vulnerable bird.
Are your roosters attacking hens while you're out there? Observing their behavior would help a lot.

That’s not a ratio conducive to harmonious living -2 roosters sharing only 3 hens.
It should be more like 1:10

Or for lack of better words , 1 roo has to go permanently or be separated out.

Yes they have been attacking them almost every five mins it seems.. I have separated the youngest roo.. He seems to be more aggressive he's maybe a month younger than the rest of the flock.. As soon as my oldest roo would mate, hed grab her and mate too. It was stressing my girls out because they couldnt get a break.

I had 5 hens and two roos.. I truly believe my youngest roo killed her because he runs at us every time we try to go in the coop to feed or collect.. I have separated him from the flock. Not sure yet what I'll do with him..

I misread your post about the hen ratio, I thought you said five hens each. Five hens for two hormonal roosters is a death sentence. Check your silkies for extra roosters too! One rooster for eight to ten hens, no less. I'd say both roosters should go, start over. I love roosters, but yours may have already gathered a taste for blood.

He needs to spend a few days in a crate. While you figure out what you’re going to do with either of them.
