HELP!

i just now watched a hen possible lay her 2nd egg today, i haae 3 hens and have collected two and watched them eat that one, this one way layed cracked like not complete i seen her do it and then 2 of them began to eat it.

You need to put the nest box up high in a dark space, so that they can't see in there unless they are actually laying. Put some golf balls or wooden/ceramic eggs in the nest box as well, it helps teach them to not bother pecking at eggs. You won't want to delay doing this.

i dont have the best set up ever its more of just a run but they have places to roost just not high up. i put the nest (old small dog house) on the concrete blocks so that the top of the box is touching the top of the run. will it work?

I have read that if the place where they lay is dark they will not eat eggs.

thanks for the help i am hoping the elevated nest box worked for sure i got home today and had two unbroken eggs!
