Help

yes, if it is a heavy infestation of red mite, they can kill a newly hatch chick overnight.

At the moment your aim is not eradication, just trying to lower the amount of them to save your chicks and make the hen a little bit more comfortable in the nest (they've been known to get up and leave the nest when it gets too much).

If you can get a few dollars you should get some Sevin dust 5% and dust the nest. Explain to your parents that this is necessary to prevent the chicks from dying.

Ok I'll try and I'll tell you how it goes.
Where do they sell Sevin dust 5% other then feed stores since there are no feed stores near here.

Any place that sells garden supplies: Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. It's in with the ant killers and is sold in a yellow cylinder that's about 10-12 inches tall.

I'm gonna have to spray her in the morning since the flashlight is not working. I hope it works. I'm very worried have you done this?
