Help!

You could have felt her gizzard or a mass inside. If her crop is hard, you might try offering some chips of cold coconut oil.
I looked at a diagram. I am pretty confident it was the crop. She will take drops of water from my finger, but not drink from the bowl right next to her. She is laying on her side now. Breathes normal for a bit, then opens her mouth and breathes quickly for a bit.

+1 everything @Eggcessive has said. If she is laying on her side, I think prognosis is not good. Please prepare yourself to possibly lose this girl. I’m sorry. Can you offer her a heating pad? Could she get off of it if she wanted to? Did you examine her as suggested by Eggcessive? Please try to remain calm and speak sweetly and soothingly to her. Stress can kill, especially when they are in bad shape like that. I’d try to make her as comfortable as possible without excessive handling after the brief exam.

I forgot to mention she might not mind being propped up with towels if she can’t sit up on her own. Sorry about my scattered responses.
I examined her. No signs of any illness. I moved her into the house, where the heat and humidity was more comfortable. I got her to take drops of water from my finger. No improvement. I talked to a local back yard chicken expert, and she said she was more than likely eggbound, causing poor circulation which made her comb turn purplish. I made a last stitch effort to check for an egg. Nothing. She passed shortly after. :(

Sorry for your loss. Had she been laying eggs recently? She could have been eggbound, but there may have been another reason. You can do a home necropsy to look for an egg inside her lower oviduct, and to look at other abdominal organs. If you still have her body, you can keep it cold, and send it to the state vet as well.
