help!!!!

i don’t know if this is something i should be worried about or if it’s fine but i brought my duck inside to give him a bath because he was dirty and hasn’t swam for awhile (since it’s winter) and he completely lost his waterproof! he was soaked!

Whether because of the weather or some other reason he has not been water proofing himself - rather common with Muscovy drakes, but not common with mallard derived birds. Make sure that he is thoroughly dried off before putting him back outside.

Simply being unable to bathe may have stopped him oiling his feathers. As long as he is otherwise healthy, he should do fine.

One of my friends on BYC had ducks that swim outside in winter all the time. They have cute little rubber stubs to sit in full of water.

i wish we could do that, our water all freezes (gets down to negative temps here!)

You just have to change 2 or 3 times a day. I'm not sure if your ducks a pets, but hers are and she cares for them everyday.
