help!!!!

again, we checked to see if she was there from the window and she wasn’t. she left before we even looked and went swimming in the pond. it’s been like an hour and she hasn’t been back.
Stop worrying about it and just let her do her thing.
 
To answer your question the eggs won’t start developing until she is in them almost consistently for 24 hours. After that they will start to develop. Until then she may leave the nest for a great many hours and adding additional eggs. Once she hits whatever number she is going to lay she will sit and stay with it.

but if she thinks that nesting area is not very safe she could leave it and move to another spot and start laying again. Be very careful being close because they can still smell you have been there even if they haven’t seen you there.

thank you. i think she is done now since she is sleeping on them all morning. she knows we won’t harm the eggs and doesn’t mind us passing by (we walk close to her anyways since it’s right by our door). the only think i’m really worried about is her getting taken by a fox or some other predator (she is hidden good but we have lots of foxes around here)
