help?!?!

ok so a few weeks ago my parents told me i could maybe get more ducks next spring, but now they don’t want me to have any ducks at all!!! my mom is trying to make me get rid of them! how can i convince her to let me keep them? i have raised them from days old and they are my babies

i have had them for over a year, and she has never really liked them. me and my siblings have all wanted a dog for a super long time so she told us if we get rid of them she would get us a dog (i want a dog but i would never trade my ducks for a new pet, but my siblings agreed to that)

i really don’t want to give them away... i raised them from when they were very young and they are the best ducks ever my mom just thinks they aren’t cute or good and only dogs and cats are good and normal pets i am trying to convince her to keep them but even my siblings want to get rid of them (even tho i take care of them by myself most of the time)

I know. I feel you. I would rather have ducks too. I was just trying to find a place where you could be somewhat content.

It sounds like there might not be much you can do if you have already made it clear to your parents how much they mean to you and have been outvoted by your siblings. You could try asking if there was some sort of compromise you could make to keep them.

If all else fails, @Magnolia Ducks had a good suggestion. If you rehome them to someone here on BYC, you can be sure they are going to a good home, and will likely be able to get updates/pictures from their new owner. It's hard, but it may be the best possibility. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, rehoming pets is never easy, especially if it's not your choice. My heart goes out to you.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear about this.
Frankly, I think ducks and chickens are better pets than dogs or cats... they lay eggs and eat bugs, after all. I like dogs, but cats are just lazy in my mind... cute, but lazy.
Anyway, I digress. I hope that you can figure something out.
