I live in the uk, two weeks ago I acquired 7 gorgeous chickens, unfortunately a very large aggressive male pheasant has decided to join the flock, he attacks the chickens if he wants their food and goes on their pen to eat grain and scratch around, they are free range chickens mostly and such a happy little group but they are becoming timid and hiding when he hustles them out of the way, I’ve regularly chased and scared him off but he returns spurs raised and fearless, HELP

i know this is harsh but try and catch him and use a large towel or blanket and if he runs at you throw it on him and then kill him or driver far away and let him go best of luck

That’s what my hubby said, I confess to being a bit scared of him myself! Especially if he got out in the car aargh! Unfortunately on lockdown here but a quick drive up the road? Interesting

yes this lockdown is killing me as well in the usa but we have opened up a bit drive to a few blocks away or about 10 minutes no guarantee hell come back but 79% sure he won't and after you get the towel on him have your hubby hold him tightly and then just throw him out the car but dont forget your towel lol

Throw the hubby out? OR THIS PHEASANT whose now had the cheek to bang on the kitchen window!!! Must want his toast!

Okay, so tried the blanket trick, cornered him in the pen but wow what a racket, he was not pleased and very annoyed and I endured up backing off and taking the blanket with me , our 7 girls hid near the shed!!
Next strategy will be a very long window cleaning pole, in the morning when he flies in we’ll see if g BBC ring poked encourages him to move on! Also raising the netting on the field side to stop him hopping in and over tree branches !!

In years past I raised pheasants and never had an issue like that. Something must be wrong with him for him to act that way. If you can catch him put a sock over his head. A fishing net may work too. Once you catch him do you have something you can put him in? Recently I had an owl plaguing me. It got caught in some netting I have over my pens. I was able to put it in a cage and called some wildlife people who came and got it. I asked them to please don't release it around here. It kept coming back, so they said they had a place quite a distance to release it and that it shouldn't be back. So far so good.
