Here is the owl going through some crappy netting I had over these pens which I have since replaced.

Thank you for this informative reply, we spoke today to our neighbour and he has a nesting female pheasant in his garden very close to the hedge/ boundary with us, I wondered if that explains his behaviour, it’s quite sad really as he really is the most gorgeous pheasant, today another male appeared but he kept his distance scratched around then flew off, will see how tomorrow goes, do you think wildlife people here in the Forest of Dean uk would come out? We’re all in lockdown unfortunately
