Hi all,

I have 6 magpie eggs arriving Friday and I'm unsure if I need to stand them point side down for 24 hours at room temp? I read on some sellers info to do this. I has looked everywhere for a local seller but no joy. So reluctantly bought online.

Also, how many times do I turn them?
How many days do they incubate. Thanks 🙏

I have only hatched eggs from our ducks but will tell you my gut feeling about what you should do. I agree with the idea of 24 hours small end down. This will give them a chance to settle and at the same time give your incubator 24 hours to stabilize. Does your incubator have automatic turning ? Hatching should be 28 days with day 1 beginning 24 hours after they are placed in the incubator. hopefully someone with more experience will see this thread . @Isaac 0

Ive got a very basic incubator. So no fancy bits. It only reads the temp. They have arrived now. So I'll let them stand until tomorrow lunch time. I've put the incubator on to stabilise. Fingers toes and arms crossed 🤞
