Our 4 year old EE Buttercup has been walking with her butt down. Her tail is up, and she’s walking around eating and drinking like normal. She’s also been roosting normally. I’ve checked her for flystrike, as another hen recently had that, but didn’t find anything. I’ve also gotten eggs from her since she started walking like this. Any ideas?

I know it says you’ve gotten eggs, but that is often a sign of being egg bound. I am concerned there would be some sort of reproductive issue going on, but unfortunately I have no other guesses or suggestions. Is there a vet you could take her to? An X-ray would be very beneficial I think.

Unfortunately we don’t have a vet near us that could x-ray her. I have tried to feel for an egg but haven’t felt anything.

Could she have a hernia? One of my hens had a hernia, and she walked like that.
