Help!!!!

I have a rooster that has pecked a hens head so bad that you can see her skull she's still alive but what could cause him to do that? She's not the only one he has pecked on a couple more hens that's in the pen with him but not nearly as bad as he did that one

I would bring that girl inside right now and we’ll help you from there. The very first thing she needs is a calm, comfortable quiet spot that’s nice and warm.

Also, you might consider rehoming or separating the rooster before he kills someone.

My brother took her to his house to try to doctor her up but what would make him do that to a hen

He might sense weakness. Or he might have torn her comb while mating and then went into a pecking frenzy when it bled. How old is he? If he is a cockerel, his hormones could be on overdrive.

Not very old we got then in June and they was a couple of weeks old then. He is a Roundhouse

He is also crossed with a yellow leg hatch

I suspect he’s just unable to manage his hormones and could possibly be separated a couple months until they calm down. However, I don’t have any rooster experience myself and defer to those who do.
I don’t think he frequents the emergency forums much these days, but I’m going to tag @Shadrach who has lots of rooster experience and is quite knowledgable on chicken behavior in general.

Is this a fighting breed? I think they are both bred to have powerful legs.

Inexperienced roosters sometimes rip the scalp off of hens while grabbing the hen to mate.
