Something is wrong with her! I’m not sure if she’s eating or drinking but she’s walking backwards and her mouth is wide open and her tongue is sticking out.

I think I can see her crop swollen.. I would check for sour or slow/blocked crop and rule that out first..

Also, check for droppings and vent condition.. her feathers look to be in awful condition.. so either she's close to needing to molt.. or she's facing some parasite issue.. pr maybe they got wet and or are they having any rooster action usually? Look for red or angry skin below the vent and on the abdomen.. or anything that looks like dirt clumps stuck on the base of feather shafts...

Dear.. I've never yet seen a bird with their tongue hanging out that wasn't at death's door.. I hope you can do something drastic and fast.. BUT do NOT force feed or fluids before identifying the cause please!

Do you know how old she actually is? What is her normal feed including treats and supplements? Any recent changes or chance of poisoning.. like oil leak or the like?

Get that crop checked.. is it soft, hard, gushy, empty smelly.. etc..



ETA: the mention of egg binding.. where was she when you found her and how ling has she been like this, when was her last egg?

Definitely not egg bound. Producing a lot of saliva and it’s more her neck and mouth. Vent area is good. Crop seems normal. Photo is not super clear sorry. I’ve tried feeding her and giving her water but she’s not interested.

She’s 1 yr and 9 mths. She seemed fine yesterday. All other flock members seem normal. Her throat and mouth area is really irritating her.

Her neck looks like it’s out of place and tongue sort of swollen.

My friend suggested gapeworm and that seems likely. What would you treat it with?
